Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is helium expensive?
Good question. "Helium is often found underground among other natural gases, but to be used, it must be separated out into its pure form, Segre said. That's an expensive process, and it's also costly to store, because of its light weight." here's the article we quoted, https://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/ct-life-helium-shortage-five-things-cb-tt-20190528-story.html
  • Can I return balloons?
    No.
  • Can you set up balloons for our party?
Yes, for additional charges we decorate.
  • How far in advance should I place a Balloon Order?
Order your balloons minimum 1 day before you need them. We suggest picking up balloons DAY OF your event. Standard latex balloons can last anywhere from 8-12 hours. Mylar balloons can last 10-12 hours on average.
  • Are balloon weights available?
Balloon weights must be purchased with all balloon bouquets "with helium". Please note when choosing "with helium"--helium, balloon weight, and ribbon are included in the price. Balloon weights do not come with balloons ordered "without helium".
  • How do I dispose my balloons responsibly?
Use balloons responsibly and adopt the 'Don’t Let Go' policy. When the party is over, deflate and cut balloons and any ribbon into small pieces, sealing them tightly in a bag before discarding them in the bin. -Latex Latex Balloons are 100% biodegradable. Whilst latex balloons are 100% biodegradable, they must still be disposed of with household or commercial waste where they will decompose in landfill. -Foil/Mylar Foil/Mylar balloons unfortunately are not biodegradable but can be re-used or recycled. Reuse Foil/Mylar balloons where possible. *NOTE: If using helium inflated balloons, always make sure they are weighted with a suitable weight to prevent them from being inadvertently released, and that air-filled balloons are suitably anchored to guarantee that they cannot be released into the atmosphere and become litter.
  • Do you deliver?
    NO. We are PICKUP ONLY.
  • Do you sell licensed balloons (i.e) Disney, Paw Patrol, etc)?"
    No.
  • How does helium work?
For latex and foil balloons to float, they need to be inflated with helium. Helium is colorless, non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and doesn’t burn.
  • How long will my helium balloons last?
Standard latex balloons can last anywhere from 8-12 hours. Mylar balloons can last 10-12 hours on average. **Once balloons leave our store or delivery van, we are no longer responsible for their lifespan. Helium is sensitive to temperature & humidity which will affect the balloons' longevity. All balloons are final sale.**
  • Do you blow up balloons brought to the store?
    No.
  • How do elements affect helium balloons?
On hot days, in direct sunlight, balloons may pop within an hour. The same result can occur indoors if balloons are exposed to direct sunlight through windows. Very cool environments may cause helium molecules to shrink, reducing the size and float time of balloons. Indoors or outdoors, the constant flow of air around a balloon will increase the speed at which helium molecules escape through the wall of the balloon, resulting in reduced float time.
  • Can I get a refund for balloons that deflate?
NO. PLEASE NOTE: helium balloons can last 8-12 hours on average. Once your order is placed and balloons leave the store, Petit Blue is no longer responsible for their lifespan. We suggest ordering balloons same day of your event.
  • Can I use air to fill up my balloons?
Latex and foil balloons can be inflated with air; however, they will not float. If you're inflating balloons yourself, good news is you can save your lungpower by using a handheld balloon pump or an electric balloon bump.
